I had my first two tryouts on Monday and Tuesday, which was basically all fielding. I have done pretty well so far, and I have heard other people saying good things about my skills. The tough thing though is that there are about 35 people trying out for JV, and they’re only keeping 16-18 players; the worst part is that 8 of them are trying out for second base(including me). Tomorrow is the final day before cuts, and it’s batting; not to put pressure on myself, but tomorrow could make or break me.
I have baseball tryouts Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for the Forest Park JV team. I don’t know how to feel about it; I’m excited to get to play baseball, but I’m nervous about how I’ll play and if I’ll make the team. It definitely will not be easy to make the team, but if I play at my best, I like my chances. We’ll see.
Just sitting back and relaxing on our second “snow day” of this school year. I’m just not sure we can call it a snow day because of the fact that there isn’t any snow! I honestly don’t care though, as long as we get a day off. Now I gotta decide what I’m going to do next.
The search for the American Idol has gotten down to the top 24, and the top12 guys sang last night to start it off. My top three were: David Archuleta, David Cook, & Michael Johns. My bottom three were Chikezie, Luke Menard, and Garrett Haley. Also, what was up with Danny Noreiga’s tight pants? Anyway, to learn more about the contestants, click here. Dwight Howard is amazing. He really is Superman and he deserved to win this competition. Incredible.
The last couple days my computer has had some problems with its wireless internet connection. Because of this, I have not been able to blog recently. But, as you can see, it has been at least temporarily taken care of.
“He guards the paths of those who are faithful to him. But evil people will lie silent in their dark graves. People don’t win just because they are strong.”
This past Sunday the youth group talked about Hannah’s promise to give her son to the Lord if he allows her to have one. This is a very tough promise to follow through with- to give up your one and only son. I know it would be hard for me (if I had a son, which I don’t). After Hannah comes through on her promise, she says a prayer of thankfulness and praise to God (1 Samuel 2), and this is my favorite part of her prayer. One reason I love this statement is because she says how vulnerable those without God in their life are, and the path ahead for these people is not pleasant. As God has shown many times before, physical strength is no match for someone with a strong faith in Him. Read this chapter for yourself and learn which piece of Hannah’s prayer means the most to you.
In my opinion, this year’s Superbowl commercials did not live up to the hype. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t a few funny ones though. This is the first of many Superbowl commercials that I will post in the near future.

I don’t understand what the Suns were thinking. Why would you give up an all-star caliber player in Shawn Marion for a guy having the worst year of his career on the worst team in the league in Shaquille O’neal? I know Shawn Marion wanted to be traded, but the Suns could have gotten a lot more for him. I don’t get it.
This week is the final Forest Park (Go Bruins!) scheduling for the 2008-2009 school year. Next year, I will be a Sophomore, which is awesome! Here are my classes for next year:
1. Pre-AP English 10
2. Pre-AP Biology
3. AP Computer Science A (hardest possible class you can take as a Sophomore)
4. Spanish III
5. Health/PE 10
6. World Geography
7. Functions/Trig
It’s going to be a pretty tough year, but I think I’ll be prepared. I only wish I could choose the order of these classes to make each day balanced.
